Opening of the MUSEO DEL LIUTO, Monterone 5-6

Exhibition: "L'iconografia del Liuto" – The lute in paintings from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period; and exhibition of Lutes and guitars from the workshop of Nico van der Waals.

The Museum of the Lute shows the beauty and the versatile aspects of the instrument. There are exposed pictures on the iconography of lute: The lute in paintings from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. Representations of still life ("natura morta") illustrate the history of the lute in sections of frescos and paintings of Byzantine, Roman, Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the Baroque period.
In addition Sigrun Richter shows her private collection of lutes and guitars made by the international well known lute-maker Nico van der Waals.
